Background

Vetiver is an incredibly fragrant bunchgrass native to tropical regions of the world that grows about 5 feet tall and has a strong, well-developed root system. The roots of the plant are traditionally used in tropical countries as air fresheners and as a food flavouring agent. Even to this day, curtains made from vetiver are hung in the doorways and windows for their alluring fragrance, especially during the summer season.
The essential oil produced from the roots of the plant is popularly used in aromatherapy and cosmetics because of its delightful scent and overwhelming therapeutic properties. In Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine systems, Vetiver oil has been used since centuries for soothing inflammatory conditions, aches, psychological stress, restlessness, and sleep disorders.

General Information

Ecodrop’s Vetiver essential oil is derived from the roots of Vetiveria zizanoides plants sourced from our organic plantations in Indonesia, certified organic by the UK Soil Association. Roots of vetiver grass are harvested, washed, and dried in the shade for 1-2 days, after which they are steam distilled to extract the oil.
